Welcome to Year 5
A very warm welcome to Year 5! We are looking forward to delivering a rich and varied curriculum full of memorable experiences this year.
Throughout the year, we will dive into exciting texts and experiment with writing for different audiences and purposes. We explore new sentence structures and clever writing techniques to make our work powerful and engaging. Reading is crucial to all areas of learning and has a direct impact on how well our children access the curriculum. Therefore, reading for pleasure is of great importance this year. In Maths, we build on everything learned so far and apply methods to numbers up to 1 million. We love using practical resources to solve problems, explain our reasoning and stretch ourselves with extra challenges.
As some of the oldest children in the school, Year 5 pupils are brilliant role models - we take pride in leading by example, showing kindness, and stepping up to new responsibilities around the school. This is also the year where independence really starts to shine, and we encourage everyone to approach challenges with valour and determination.
