End of Nursery Expectations
Starting with the ‘end in mind’, we have created these goals/expectations that will be used in the same way as the Reception ELGs. Please note that this is NOT our curriculum. Our EYFS curriculum offers a wide variety of rich experiences that are crucial to child development. We created these goals to show the ‘end point’ for our cohort of children and the level of development we believe they should have attained by the end of Nursery.
They will be used in the summer term to support staff to make a holistic, best-fit judgement about each child ’s development, and their readiness for Reception.
By the end of Nursery, I will be able to...

- Use the toilet independently
- Make meaningful marks
- Play with my friends
- Communicate my needs to adults
- Tidy things away
- Follow simple instructions
